John C. Profitt, 87, formerly of Ahsahka
BAKER CITY, Ore. -- John C. Profitt, 87, a longtime Ahsahka resident, died Feb. 24 at St. Elizabeth Health Services here of causes related to age.
He was born in Avon, Idaho, to Leonard and Maggie Senters Profitt on Oct. 10, 1910.
The family moved to Ahsahka, where he grew up and attended school.
He married Grace Dodge in Boise March 16, 1941.
He and his family lived in the Ahsahka area, where he worked as a logger for Carl Finke and other logging companies.
He moved to Montana in the early 1950s and then to Baker City in 1964, where he owned and operated Pine Creek Auto Wrecking for 25 years.
His wife died in 1989.
Survivors include five sons, Larry of Libby, Mont., Calvin of Anchorage, Alaska, and David, Loren and Cecil, all of Baker City; seven daughters, Judy Johnson, Debby McCray, Ramona Cain, Peggy Sturdivant, Cindy Mack and Tammy Urlacker, all of Baker City and Glenda Rice of Indiana; 41 grandchildren; two half brothers, Leo of Clarkston and Virgil of Lewiston; and two half sisters, Mary Meyers and Virginia Page, both of Clarkston.
He was preceded in death by his wife; three brothers, Luther, Leonard and Earl; and one sister, Ethel Slaton.
His funeral and burial were held in Baker City.
Gray's West and Company was in charge of arrangements.
